Delayed Equation for Charged Rigid Nonrelativistic Ball

چکیده

Long time ago to calculate back-reaction of electromagnetic field on moving with acceleration a charged classical (not quantum) particle of finite size Sommerfeld [1] considered two models uniformly charged rigid sphere and uniformly charged rigid ball and found out explicit expressions for electromagnetic self-forces. These expressions in nonrelativistic limit are much simpler then the original ones. Thus for uniformly charged rigid sphere (with radius a, total charge Q and mass m ), moving along trajectory ~ R = ~ R(t), the equation of motion with self-force, which include the back-reaction of electromagnetic radiation, is the known delayed equation (see, for ex., [2-5])

Some Analytical Results on Classical Tunneling of Sommerfeld Particle

Let us remind that Sommerfeld model of charged rigid sphere [1] (Sommerfeld particle) is the simplest theoretical model to take into consideration the ”back-reaction” of self-electromagnetic field on equation of motion of a radiating extended charged body (for point-like charge we have the known LorentzDirac equation with all its problems: renormalization of mass, preacceleration, runaway solut...

An Instantaneous Rigid Force Model For 3-Axis Ball-End Milling Of Sculptured Surfaces

An instantaneous rigid force model for prediction of cutting forces in ball-end milling of  sculptured surfaces is presented in this paper. A commercially available geometric engine is used to represent the cutting edge, cutter and updated part geometries. The cutter used in this work is an insert type ball-end mill. Intersecting an inclined plane with the cutter ball nose generates the cutting...

Dedicated to Irene Z. CLASSICAL TUNNELING AS THE RESULT OF RETARDATION IN CLASSICAL ELECTRODYNAMICS: NONRELATIVISTIC CASE

The problem of radiation reaction in classical electrodynamics is still discussed in the literature (for ex. see [1]). This problem can be formulated in the following way: it is known that classical charged body moving with acceleration must radiate. Thus there is back reaction of outgoing electromagnetic waves. But what quantity feels this back reaction pure mechanical mass of a charged body o...

Coulomb Resummation and Monopole Masses

The relativistic Coulomb resummation factor suggested by I.L. Solovtsov is used to reanalyze the mass limits obtained for magnetic monopoles which might have been produced at the Fermilab Tevatron. The limits given by the Oklahoma experiment (Fermilab E882) are pushed close to the unitary bounds, so that the lower limits on monopole masses are increased from around 250 GeV to about 400 GeV. 1 T...

Solution of the relativistic Dirac-Morse problem.

The Dirac equation for a charged particle in a static electromagnetic field is written for the special case of a spherically symmetric potential. Besides the well-known Dirac-Coulomb and Dirac-oscillator potentials, we obtain a relativistic version of the S-wave Morse potential. This is accomplished by adding a simple exponential potential term to the Dirac operator, which in the nonrelativisti...
